Things were definitely getting heated in the world. Constantly there were new attacks in the streets from the Hunters, but they were still the same...stupid, arrogant, and just bloody irresponsible. That was day to day life though for most of the Gifted out in the streets at night, but things were now starting to get a little crazy at the school. More kids were not showing up to their classes, and still Kingsley refused to do anything but turn his head and look away from the matter. Why couldn't things be just a little bit simpler?
Alden Harlow walked down the bricked sidewalks in Douglas Park, not really paying much to the scenery, but mainly on what was going through his own mind. He had spent most of the morning down in what Pearce like to call 'The clubhouse'. He had always smirked at that comment, but lately it had grown a bit on him, though Alden would never admit that openly to his friend if he could help it. There he had worked on numerous reports about the A.R.D and was trying to gather enough information to plan their first little attack. It was hard work, something that Alden didn't think he was ever meant for, and that was on his mind.
Taking out a pack a cigarette and pulling one out, his mind raced with confusion. Am I really a leader? Could I actually band together enough to put a stop to all this? The questions kept pouring into his mind one after another making his stomach churn constantly as realization kept striking. Lighting the cigarette that he stuck to his lips, he took the first drag and then breathed it out along with the words "I need a bloody drink."
Still, he kept walking like a good boy. It was too early to turn back and hit up Midnites or some other bar in town, no. Besides, he didn't need to drink his problems away. His shoes gave little sounds like ruffling paper as they scraped upon the bricked sidewalk. Blue eyes gazed around the place from behind dark lens that sat upon his face. It was a nice day, something that he should learn to get out and enjoy more. He took another drag and kept walking around, feeling a little bit better as he gazed around at the different trees and flowers this place had to offer. It was ironic really. This place seemed wonderful during the day, but at night it was usually a war zone. Funny how this work isn't it?
Alden's feet carried him to the marble fountain that sat in the center of the park. He paused for a moment to look at it before he walked over to the edge and sat down upon it, his elbows resting on his knees with his hands hanging down and his back hunched like the weight of the world was on his shoulders, and technically it was.

oh boy i hear you in my dreams , ( I FEEL YOUR WHISPER ACROSS THE SEA, I KEEP YOU WITH ME IN MY HEART ) you make it easier when life gets hard, She had been trying over the years, and she had succeed with her weather manipulation. She had a better control over that and she preferred to use that instead of her other manipulation powers. But she hasn't been accelerating like she thought her powers would. Right now, all she could do was create thunder storms and clear them up. Yes she can control where the lightening and rain falls, but that's all she could do. She doesn't know how to make hail or create a tornado at will. She had been trying that for years, but she couldn't seem to bring it all together, But she wasn't complaining too much creating thunder storms were useful because she can control the outcome and she found that to be a good thing. She remember she used to make it rain, just so she could get rid of the droughts. She doesn't stay long at places, the most she would stay would be about a year and you couldn't budget her for more. She was a loner for a reason, but now since she was here, she found a group called Vertias and even saved one of the members. She was a good person and she believed in letting the gifted people live. What if they could save lives? Just like she was able to save people from a drought? She knew there was people willing to save others if they placed their minds to it. She wanted to do good, she was tired of being viewed like she was evil because of her unstable powers. She wanted to make a difference in the world, so that's why she joined this little group. She also hoped to learn how to have more control of her abilities. As she was thinking all this, she saw someone walking over to the fountain. She squint her eyes to get a better look and she could see that it was a man, seemed very good looking. She sighed and closed her notebook, she knew she wouldn't finish her drawing with him there. So she sat there looking at him wondering who he was and why he was at the fountain. She stood up and walked over towards him but didn't step too close, she was about five feet away. The sound of the water trickling down in streams of the fountain was enough to put any good tired man to bed, but Alden wasn't tired. Still, he sat there listening, feeling a bit more at ease as the sound of the water filled his ears. It brought peace and a sudden serenity to his mind that had lately seemed to have turned on itself. Placing the cigarette to his lips, he took a sharp drag, letting the smoke fill his lungs before his hand dropped back down to its original position between his kneecaps. The serenity had died with that drag as thoughts once again filled his head.
Alden was never the leader-type, nor the people person, or at least that was back in high school. People back then were sort of put off by the fact he existed, though it had nothing to do with him moving from England. It all began when his father had a heart attack and he missed half of his junior year at a new school. Once he returned he was a bit darker, and who wouldn't be? Dealing with a death in the family, especially the only one you had left, would do that to you. Rumors circulated about like they always did, but they were wilder and less tamed then 'he slept with Suzy.' No. These dealt with murder.
After high school though, Al lightened up a bit. He became a bit looser, began to party even more, and found his way into the usual ladies bedroom at 3 o'clock in the morning. He was charming, or so he had been told, but it still didn't make him a leader. He wanted people to listen to his voice, not just his good looks.
The smoke in his lungs left gently through his nostrils as the sound of footsteps could be heard coming his way. Gently, Alden lifted his head up. His blue eyes behind the dark lenses of his sunglasses saw a familiar face, one that he had seen in a file down in the 'clubhouse', and one that was very pretty as well. "Penny for your thoughts?" The woman spoke, and he gave a sharp chuckle.
"I'm afraid I'm all out of spare change today, darling." Alden spoke up, his accent thick like the cigarette smoke in the air. "Annabelle, isn't it?" He asked, sitting up straight and taking another drag off his cigarette.

As she had these rush of thoughts, she could see some clouds in the sky and she breathed in slowly to calm herself so she wouldn't lose control of her cool, if she did, she knew she could have made it rain. Every time she lost her cool, she knew it would be easier to lose track of her abilities and she wasn't planning on that happening. She hated losing control, it was her worse fear and to die because of her abilities was an even bigger fear. She kept her cool and she noticed the clouds moving away. She gets worked up over little things at times and she knew she had to be more laid back. She looked at him again and she was trying to figure out where she had known him from. status:open! tagged: alden! [/ul]

"How do you know my name?" Annabelle asked as the sun grew partly visible behind some fresh clouds.
Alden looked up at the sky, the smoke from his lungs leaving gently out between his lips as he watched the clouds form and shift over the park. They only stayed for a moment though, and soon were gone from sight, moving off at rather abnormal paces. 'That could come in handy' He thought to himself and he looked back down upon the girl's face, taking another slow drag off his cigarette. "I know more about you than just your name." He spoke up after taking the drag, letting the smoke once again circulate though his system.
Before she could get worked up again, he spoke swift and calm. "My name's Alden Harlow, and you work for me in Vertias."
Alden said as he took the last hit off his cigarette and then proceeded to toss it in the grass. "You are the newest recruit if I am not mistaken." He gave a warm grin and a slight chuckle to show his easy nature. Waiting for her reply he took her image in. She was just as pretty, or even more so, as her photograph showed in the file, which was another good aspect that could come in handy in the field. It could possibly buy them a few extra minutes, or a way in the back door with her little charm. He had read through her file, saw her life story, knew every possible detail that if the situation was right, and God let's not hope so, he could use something against her. So far though, everything had checked out just fine, so there was no reason for him to worry about blackmail just yet, at least on their end. Turning his attention back to the woman, Alden waited for her reply as he took out another cigarette. She probably had so many questions that needed to be answered, and now would be a good time to get those out in a more comfortable place besides the humid underground hide-away most of the members had grown to love. Everyone knew about the past with her mother in her home town, there was a lot of newspaper articles and such. Same thing goes for the car accident with her dead fiance, it was on the news the same night. It was all depressing but there was some good things that came out of her life. Her mother taught her remedies for things, like toothaches and colds. Her mother even passed down the book to her and the locket she was wearing around her neck along with a ring that was from her ex-fiance. She loved them both dearly, but she felt like she was the cause for both deaths and she held it against her ever since. But as she looked at the man in front of her, she wondered what had he known and if he had known, what would he do with that information? She didn't know if she should trust him completely, she's known people all her life, she doesn't want them to turn against her again. "Why was I invited in your group? And whats going on around here?."She had to ask, it had been bothering her for a while. status:open! tagged: alden! [/ul]

Alden took the new cigarette he held between his fingers and place it to his lips. With a slight click, the zippo he pulled out opened with a spark, lighting a subtle flame that he pressed against the end of the tobacco. It burned a bright red at first, and smoke trailed up as he got it lit good, then with another click, the lighter closed and the end of his cigarette glowed a fire red. Smoke drifted into his lungs while the woman stood there, at first looking at him funny and then realizing who he was.
"So, you're the head honcho? Well, its nice to meet you." Annabelle spoke. "The pleasure is all mine." Alden simply said with a nod as smoke drifted out of his nostrils. He studied the girl carefully, her every movement, her every breath. Not that he was doing it in the creepy stalker sort of way, but there were ways to tell if one was a Hunter or not, kind of like you would with a drunk (staggering movements, uneasiness.) Last thing he really needed was someone inviting a Hunter into the pack of thieves.
"Why was I invited in your group? And whats going on around here?." She asked and he grinned a bit. "I knew you'd have questions...they always do." He stated taking another hit off his cigarette before explaining the situation. "Well, you showed potential the other night in that alley." Alden began. "The attack you saw was from a Hunter. They were made by the A.R.D, a group here in Anthem that is responsible for tracking and experimenting on the Gifted, people like you and I.
Smoke billowed from his lung and out his nose as he took another hit and released it before continuing. "The group you were invited to, Vertias, is one that is trying to stop these Hunters and ultimately the A.R.D. from killing people of our kind. We are civil, but we also mean business, and from the way you handled yourself the other night, Pearce thinks you are a good choice for membership."

She could see his eyes on her, but it wasn't looking with admiration or drool with that matter. She could tell he was just watching her, she wasn't complaining and she was fine just with that. She just knew that if he strike at her, she would be ready to strike back with her own powers. Although she didn't like using her fire manipulation powers, a fire ball wouldn't drag her close to death, its when she would do a tornado of fire that would be close to killing her. Fire balls were easy to manage, just like water balls, but anything beyond that she would lose control and she didn't even use the fireballs for long. She refused to use that side of her power unless she was in danger or if a victim was in danger. Otherwise no, and even if a victim was in danger, she would use her weather manipulation power and shoot there butt with some lightening bolts. That was always fun to do.
As he heard him speak about why she was invited, she looked at him with her soft blue eyes, a kind of sadness washed over. She wondered why the world has come to this and she would never grew to understand. But she knew she would have to fight for it and she was ready for that but her powers were very unstable, what if she killed the group or had some sort of outburst with her powers? She couldn't risk that and so she stared at him for the whole time he talked and a minute after the last word he spoke. She seemed flattered, in a good way that she was invited to something like this but she didn't know if she should accept it. The smoke from his cig was very powerful and it had hit her with waves of the scent. She then finally spoke.
"I would love to join you...but I have a lot of conflicts with my abilities."
She knew she would have to explain to him what was going on with her, unless he already knew. But she was going to tell him anyways in case he didn't know. It was better safe than sorry. She placed her hand in her pocket and she looked at his cig again and she made a bubble of water in front of his face. Her eyes were focused on it as it floated gently. It didn't require a lot of power, so she didn't fear to much, it was when she had massive amounts of it is when she grew in fear. A bubble was harmless. She moved the bubble around him with such easy. then she moved the bubble along his cig, just circling around it. The little water bubble moved and unlit his cig. She smiled at it and she looked at him.
"One of my abilities are very unstable, cause be very deadly if I use it to it's maximum. Water and Fire are to great elements."
She explained then in the next moment, she lit the cig with her mind and she saw the smoke start up again. She then looked at it as it blew smoke all over the place. She inhaled deeply and stared up into his eyes. He had nice eyes and she wasn't complaining, she then moved a little closer to him. only a foot away from him now. She then looked down at her shoes. She sighed gently and moved a strand of her hair behind her ear. She then looked at him in the eyes again.
"They are both very unstable elements, if I used them more than just a bubble and a heating tool. I had to fled from my family because of how unstable it is. I wouldn't want to kill anyone with it. I know my limits but sometimes limits are made to pass."
She spoke with just ease and she turned away from him and looked at the fountain. The water gently falling down and she smiled at it. She inhaled deeply and stared at the fountain for a long time. She always cared about others, which is why she had to tell him about her unstable adjustment to her powers.
